A 38-year-old woman has committed suicide at her residence in Umusiome village, Nkpor-agu near Onitsha, Anambra State. The deceased, a petty trader, identified as Lovina Odo, was said to have hung herself with rope tied to a ceiling fan at about 5:00pm.
Accord to reporters gathered that the deceased might have committed suicide following her inability to bear a child for over eight years of marriage. The husband of the deceased, Okechukwu Odo, a car washer, who was shocked, said there were no misunderstanding between him and the deceased.
“I left for work after breakfast that fateful day without any misunderstanding with her. She even asked me to buy a tuber of yam for dinner. I was however surprised to meet sympathizers around my apartment when I returned home at about 6:30 p.m that fateful day. When I asked why they gathered, they told me that my wife had committed suicide,” he lamented.
