This comes years after the Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani administration shut the old Enugu zoo and converted the space to residential use now rechristened Zoo Estate.
Governor Ugwuanyi made the commitment during a courtesy visit by the management of the National Museum of Unity, Enugu to the Government House, noting that the institution "plays a very important role by serving as an educational resource center through which people can connect with previous generations and draw inspiration from the contribution they made to the socio-economic and political development of their respective areas." The state government would would continue to support and collaborate with the museum towards fulfilling the mandate of rendering the required service to the people of Enugu State and the nation in the area of cultural growth and development, he added.
Eariler in his remark during the visit, the Director of the Museum, Dr. Virgy Ifediagwa stated that they were at the Government House to intimate the governor of the proposed "Iriji Festival" which holds on October 29. The festival which she pointed out will involve both school children drawn from schools across the state and royal fathers from various communities in the state, seeks to showcase prowess of Enug State as well as feature a display of artworks for the benefit of posterity.
