One Killed As Train Clashed In A Popular Market In Enugu

  It was tragedy yesterday 26th October at the popular Ogbete main Market Enugu as an elderly name simply identified by Ikechukwu was crushed to death by a speeding train.

Several other people sustain various degree of injury as the train which was on a high speed allegedly came to the  area without hooting the horn.


The train is believed to be returning from Port Harcourt Rivers State, when the icident occurred. If you have been to the market before you would notice that some traders usually display their wares on the rail line. however, one the train approaches, theywould quickly remove the goods.

Eyewitness disclosed that before the killing of the victim, the train had nearly killed a Tricycle (Keke Napep) driver at Zik Avenue area, before coming into the Ogbet market.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ebere Amarizu confirmed the incident.

He described it as horrible, wondering why the train driver should be on high speed without hooting the horn
